Owens, II, announced today that 47-year-old Charity Barnes has been found guilty of First-Degree Murder in the shooting death of 39-year-old Melissa Turner. On August 20, 2021, officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting at the intersection of West Street and Woodrow Wilson Avenue. Owens, II, announced that 25-year-old Genesis Moore pleaded guilty to Second-Degree Murder in the shooting death of 45-year-old Christopher Phillips. On August 20, 2023, officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to the Fuel Express Gas Station in reference to a shooting. Owens, II, announced today that Victoria Cox, co-defendant in the Daniel Wayne Callihan case, was sentenced for her role in the June 2024 murder and kidnapping that spanned Louisiana and Mississippi.   Cox aided convicted murderer and kidnapper Daniel Wayne Callihan in the abduction of two young sisters and the murder of one.
