Owens, II, announced that on Monday, March 17, 2025, Xavier Gray pleaded guilty to manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault in relation to a fatal shooting that took place in 2022. Suspect in Fatal Shooting Found Guilty of Murder March 14, 2025 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that a jury has found Isaac Griffin guilty of manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of 46-year-old Kenneth Beals. On July 17, 2022, Jackson Police officers responded to a reported shooting at 2318 Ludlow Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased body of Beals at the front door, covered by a blanket. Owens, II, announces a successful prosecution in the trial of Robert Lumpkin, a habitual offender, who was convicted of manslaughter for killing his wife, Laura Lumpkin and for being a convicted of felon with a firearm. On August 19, 2022, Jackson Police officers responded to 124 Barbara Avenue in reference to a deceased individual.
