December 15, 2025 On December 15, 2025, the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office partnered with Mississippi Blood Services to host a community blood drive centered on service, compassion, and saving lives.  Blood donations play a critical role in emergency care, trauma response, and ongoing medical treatment across Mississippi. During the holiday season, when donations often decline, the need for a reliable blood supply becomes even more urgent. Man Sentenced to 40 Years in Deadly Robbery June 10, 2025 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that LeAndrew Williams has been sentenced for First-Degree Murder in the shooting death of 49-year-old Jimmie Lee Pierce, Jr. The fatal incident occurred during an armed robbery in Jackson in May 2022. On May 16, 2022, Pierce was sitting outside his residence at Northwest Plaza Apartments on North West Street when he was approached by Williams, who was fifteen at the time. Man Pleads Guilty to Life for Torture and Murder of 2-Year-Old Girl June 3, 2025 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced yesterday that Jermarcus Kelly, 23, has pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder in the death of a 2-year-old girl, who was found unresponsive and severely injured at a home on Troy Avenue in Jackson. On or around March 5, 2022, the victim was rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center after she was discovered unconscious at the residence.
