Guilty Verdict After Double Shooting Leaves Ex-Girlfriend Dead, Boyfriend Injured September 11th, 2025 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that a jury has found 32-year-old Zverian Brent guilty of Second-Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault for the 2022 home-invasion killing of his ex-girlfriend, 26-year-old Terrencia Jackson, and shooting of 31-year-old Henry Perry.   The incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 7, 2022, when Brent forcibly kicked in the carport door of Jackson’s home on Fleetwood Drive in South Jackson. Owens, II, announced that Isaiah McCray, 28, has pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old TeKayla Cornelius, who was killed during a domestic dispute in May 2023.   On May 21, 2023, officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near Wabash and Ohio Street, where they found Cornelius suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Suspect in Fatal Shooting Found Guilty of Murder March 14, 2025 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that a jury has found Isaac Griffin guilty of manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of 46-year-old Kenneth Beals. On July 17, 2022, Jackson Police officers responded to a reported shooting at 2318 Ludlow Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased body of Beals at the front door, covered by a blanket. Owens, II, announces the successful prosecution of Marvin Willoughby in connection with the 2017 murder of 28-year-old Freddie Mosley at a local motel. On September 12, 2017, officers with the Jackson Police Department (JPD) responded a shooting at the Mustang Motel in Jackson. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male later identified as Freddie Mosley.
