Owens, II, announces the successful prosecution in the trial of 29-year-old Maurice Forte who was convicted on four counts of capital murder. On September 16, 2018, the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting at a home on Marwood Dive. Upon arrival, officers observed a male sitting in the front yard with a pistol on his right side who identified himself as Maurice Forte. State v. lonzell williams March 15, 2024 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announces the guilty verdict convicting Lonzell Williams of Aggravated Assault. Williams was convicted following a week-long trial, in the Circuit Court of Hinds County. On November 11, 2019, JPD officers responded to 1065 I-20 Frontage Road in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old Brandi Breland with multiple injuries to her face and body.
