December 15, 2025 On December 15, 2025, the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office partnered with Mississippi Blood Services to host a community blood drive centered on service, compassion, and saving lives.  Blood donations play a critical role in emergency care, trauma response, and ongoing medical treatment across Mississippi. During the holiday season, when donations often decline, the need for a reliable blood supply becomes even more urgent. From Louisiana to Mississippi:  Cox’s Role in the Brunett Tragedy Ends in 40-Year Prison Sentence  November 24th, 2025 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that Victoria Cox, co-defendant in the Daniel Wayne Callihan case, was sentenced for her role in the June 2024 murder and kidnapping that spanned Louisiana and Mississippi.   Cox aided convicted murderer and kidnapper Daniel Wayne Callihan in the abduction of two young sisters and the murder of one. Predator Coach Sentenced to 30 Years for Sexual Battery and Exploitation of Students October 15th, 2025 (Jackson, MS) – Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that 50-year-old, Willie Alexander, Jr., former assistant basketball coach at Clinton Christian Academy, has pled guilty during trial to crimes involving a 14-year-old student-athlete under his supervision.  On June 14, 2022, the victim’s mother reported to Clinton Police that her son disclosed ongoing sexual abuse by Alexander. Guilty Verdict  After Domestic Motel Dispute Turns Deadly November 24th, 2025 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that a Hinds County Jury has found 38-year-old Antonio Ames guilty of First-Degree Murder and Felon with a Firearm in the shooting death of 30-year-old Jennifer Ann Ray.   On the night of August 27, 2020, officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to the Intown Suites in North Jackson regarding a reported shooting.
