Owens, II, announced today that a jury has found 28-year-old Marquiz McLaurin guilty of Second-Degree Murder in the death of 24-year-old Bridget Harkins. Guilty Plea Secures 40 Year Sentence in Belhaven Delivery Driver Murder May 5, 2026 (Jackson, MS) – Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that Darren Shannon, 25, plead guilty to Second-Degree Murder in the shooting death of 39-year-old Corey Price, a food delivery driver in the Belhaven neighborhood. Shannon was sentenced to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. State v. otis singleton july 30, 2024 (Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announces the successful prosecution in the trial of Otis Singleton who was convicted of second-degree murder for killing 26-year-old Victoria Hollingsworth. On October 29, 2020, Jackson Police Department officers responded to 739 Monterey Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Hollingsworth unresponsive and lying in a pool of blood. Singleton fatally shot the victim in the head with an assault-style weapon, after a domestic-related argument over a set of keys. Singleton was arrested and taken into custody. The jury returned…
