You’re invited to attend and meet DA Owens at the JSU Votes’ Candidate Introductions, a ...first-time event for JSU Votes in an effort to improve voter education and raise awareness on 2023 state and local elections. This event is intended to educate Jackson State students and surrounding City of Jackson voters on the 2023 pool of potential public servants and the offices they are seeking. It will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 on the campus of Jackson State University from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm in the College of Liberal Arts Auditorium 266. This year’s Candidate Introductions is open to all statewide candidates and the local Hinds County candidates whose jurisdiction encompasses Jackson State University.

Following a jury trial in the Circuit Court of Hinds County, Devon Odom was convicted of First ...Degree Murder and Armed Robbery. Odom was sentenced as a habitual offender to life without the possibility of parole on both counts.
“I hope today’s conviction and sentence sends a clear message that violent crime will not be tolerated in Hinds County,” DA Owens said following the verdict. “My office will continue to seek the maximum sentence for individuals who choose to terrorize our citizens.”
