Fuel time gas station shooter gets 30 years

(Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announces the sentencing of Shydarius Williams who was convicted of first-degree murder for the shooting of Marcus Moore.
On June 4, 2022, Williams shot Moore in the back as he sat in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in the parking lot of the Fuel Time gas station on Bullard St. Moore succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Upon investigation of surveillance footage, detectives identified Williams entering the victim’s car and sitting the in the back seat and minutes later exiting the vehicle fleeing the scene with a firearm, later determined to be an assault rifle.
Today, Williams was sentenced to forty (40) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections; ten (10) of those years were suspended, leaving a sentence of thirty (30) years to serve. Upon release, Williams will be on five (5) years Post Release Supervision.
After the sentencing, DA Owens stated the following, “The value of human life is precious, and today’s sentencing sends a strong message that there will be decades worth of consequences to those who commit violent acts in Hinds County.” “We will stop senseless violence at our gas stations, grocery stores, and neighborhoods.”
