Triple murderer found guilty

May 16, 2024

(Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announces the successful prosecution in the trial of 29-year-old Maurice Forte who was convicted on four counts of capital
murder.

On September 16, 2018, the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting at a home on Marwood Dive. Upon arrival, officers observed a male sitting in the front yard with a pistol on his right side who identified himself as Maurice Forte. Officers proceeded into the residence and found the bodies of three unresponsive females lying in puddles of blood with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. The females were later identified as Forte’s 69-year-old grandmother, his 49-year-old mother, and his 26-year-old sister, who was seven months pregnant.

Forte was sentenced to life for each count of capital murder, without the possibility of parole.

“We must remember that justice doesn’t end with a guilty verdict,” says District Attorney Owens. “Recent events highlight the devastation that occurs when one person is responsible for the loss of multiple lives, especially within one’s own family.” “This individual shot his grandmother eighteen times, his mother, nine times, and his pregnant sister, twice; all in an act of senseless violence. Our office will continue to hold those who commit these acts responsible.”
