Press Release-Kristopher BoClair

Son Sentenced to 25 Years for

Fatally Stabbing His Paralyzed Father

March 19, 2025

(Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced that Kristopher BoClair has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of his father, Kenneth BoClair.

On the morning of November 30, 2022, Jackson Police responded to 315 Riser Street after receiving a call from the defendant’s mother, Lataunya Wallace, who reported that her son confessed to killing his father. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 58-year-old Kenneth BoClair, who was paralyzed and bedridden, lying in bed with knives lodged in his neck and eye. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Kristopher BoClair later turned himself in at the Byram Police Department and was taken into custody.

BoClair entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 40 years, with 15 years suspended. He will serve 25 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by three years of post-release supervision.

“This case is a heartbreaking reminder of the silent battles happening behind closed doors,” said District Attorney Owens. “Far too many families in our community are grappling with untreated mental illness and unresolved domestic abuse. We cannot ignore these issues—we must confront them head-on, provide access to care, and intervene before pain turns into tragedy.”
