(Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announces the
sentencing of habitual offender, Joseph Zattoni who was convicted of kidnapping and felon in possession of a firearm.
On February 9, 2023, Mississippi Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a call at 3329 Highway 473, in reference to a young woman having been abducted from her car and forced into the suspect’s vehicle. The victim was later identified as 21-year-old Natalie Lambert, and the suspect was her then-boyfriend, Zattoni. When officers arrived, they discovered Lambert’s vehicle on the side of the road containing her personal belongings. It was later discovered that Zattoni had fired shots at her vehicle as she tried to flee his residence following a physical altercation.
Today, Zattoni was sentenced to twenty-five (25) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections; three (3) of those years were suspended, leaving twenty-two years to serve for the kidnapping and five (5) years to serve for felon in possession of a firearm, with both to run concurrently.
After the sentencing, District Attorney Owens stated, “We will not tolerate domestic abusers and crimes against women. Zattoni is being held accountable for his actions as an abuser. We will continue to ensure that victims like Lambert, get justice.”
