for Jealous Ex in Deadly Love Triangle

(Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that 27-year-old, Jocquize Williams pled guilty to First-Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm in the shooting death of 24-year-old Anthony Lindsey, who was dating the mother of Williams’ young child.
On June 3, 2021, a deadly love-triangle confrontation unfolded at the Edgewood Terrace Apartments in Jackson. Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to reports of a shooting. A confrontation escalated into gunfire. Lindsey, who had just celebrated his 24th birthday, was shot in the face and pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses advised that Williams fled the location in a white Dodge Challenger immediately after the shooting.
At the time of the shooting, Williams was on parole and under house arrest for a 2017 burglary. He remained on the run for nearly two months before being captured by law enforcement. Williams entered his guilty plea at the start of trial. He was sentenced to 30 years for First-Degree Murder and 10 years for Felon in Possession of a Firearm to run consecutively.
“Domestic disputes do not excuse murder. Jocquize Williams disregarded the law, violated his parole, and took a life,” said District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II. “If we allow jealousy to justify violence, we fail every family torn apart by preventable loss, and we allow that cycle to continue.”
