Press Release-Isaac Griffin

Suspect in Fatal Shooting Found Guilty of Murder

March 14, 2025

(Jackson, MS) Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that a jury has found Isaac Griffin guilty of manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of 46-year-old Kenneth Beals.

On July 17, 2022, Jackson Police officers responded to a reported shooting at 2318 Ludlow Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased body of Beals at the front door, covered by a blanket. An investigation revealed that the shooting resulted from an argument, during which Griffin shot Beals multiple times. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Griffin fled the location shortly after the shooting, but a witness identified him as the shooter, leading to his arrest the following day.

Griffin faces a maximum sentence of twenty (20) years in prison to be served under the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Sentencing is scheduled for March 31, 2025.

District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, remarked, “This is a heartbreaking case of two lifelong friends whose lives were forever altered by the abuse of drugs and alcohol, leading to fateful consequences. While we are grateful that justice has been served, this verdict serves as a sobering reminder of how substance abuse can fuel violence and destroy lives. Our office remains committed to seeking justice for victims of senseless crimes. Our deepest sympathies go out to Mr. Beals’ family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
