2025 Prosecution Report
The Hinds County District Attorney’s Office continued its commitment in 2025 to prosecuting crime with fairness, transparency, and a focus on both accountability and rehabilitation. The prosecution team resolved hundreds of felony cases this year, including some of the county’s most serious and violent offenses. This report offers a breakdown of key prosecution activity and case outcomes.
Trial Activity in 2025
In 2025, the District Attorney’s Office resolved 1,197 felony cases, encompassing 1,945 individual felony counts. This is a 8.42% increase in the resolution of felony counts and a 5.5% increase in cases from the previous calendar year. Additionally, 45.2% of all cases resolved involved statutory violent crimes, as defined under Mississippi law (§97-3-2).
The Office tried 70 felony cases in front of a jury in 2025, an increase of 100% from the prior year.

Notably, 90% of these trials involved violent crimes, including 63% that were homicide cases. The increase in trial activity reflects both public demand for accountability and the DA Office’s dedication to delivering justice through jury adjudication.
Looking Forward
The Hinds County District Attorney’s Office will continue to:
- Expand its capacity for trials as more courtroom space and judicial resources become available.
- Strengthen partnerships with law enforcement, community organizations, and mental health services.
- Invest in data-driven prosecution tools to ensure greater efficiency and equity in case outcomes.
