What Is Property Crime?
Property crimes involve the theft, destruction, or unlawful use of someone else’s property without direct physical harm to another person.
Common examples include:

Recommended steps to help prevent property crime include:
- Secure doors and windows, even during brief absences
- Install security cameras or motion lighting
- Record serial numbers for electronics, firearms, and tools
- Avoid leaving valuables inside vehicles
- Report suspicious activity to law enforcement
- Register home security cameras with your local police department if the option exists
